~~~1.another day - mother, we've walked down to the quarry, we'll be home by dark no need for worries. no it won't wait another day, i can't wait another day. walking home the skies look stormy (hope tomorrow brings another story). why must we wait another day, i can't wait another day~~~2.dusty sunsets - it takes a day or two to wane but once you're back out on that train there's blue skies where there once was rain. just imagine all the sunny days soon to greet us as we wake. it takes a week or two to wane but once you're back out on that train - another summer erasing a face - a trail blaze of empty state highways. just imagine how the sun shines in Maine upon a sunny day. it takes a little while to break that chain but once you're back out on that train (here's to a lifetime of chase after chase, a trail blaze of empty state highways.)~~~3.english son - my mother stands beside my lover, stands beside my oldest friend, and i always hoped we'd be together until the very end. i used to sing of just one love (then again i learned to think and speak with an english tongue) but if there's one on which you're hung, you'll never reach the higher rung.~~~4.mountain sun - driving onwards through Nebraska, the mountain sun setting in our review mirror. why can't this thing go any faster? we will never catch up to all the stuff bouncing in between our ears . (anywhere but here wasn't really there). the weather is calling for disaster, these icy roads will shake your soul and wake my fears. i cannot remember a day full of laughter, no i can hardly recall our nights that fall beneath those mountain skies so pure...~~~5.the swamp - ~~~6.countryside - ...but i remember the countryside - as you held my hand i held your homeland - only when i'm in your arms will i be home again deep inside the belly of our heartland; we'll never run out of anything; we're done feeling lonesome; oh cynthia i'll see you by the countryside.~~~~~~7.from water to rainbow - if we are one we'll be in time, and if you're just anyone then there's no sense in me crying. there's no sense in trying prying about last night, but i sat praying you we're alright just waiting unaware of who or where, what to do or what to wear (as if you really care, if you did, you would have been there...) now i do swear never to bare my heart to the thin air ( my heart's too thick for the air). i'm feeling like the mountain stream which starts off trickling but just keeps building and building through the spring, i'd like to keep it under control, but, it creeps up and just explodes from water to rainbow (into a different form, away from what is worn). From water to rainbow, into a different form, walk with me after the storm along this mountain stream, i'll show you a new scene as the days slowly turn to dream (from water to rainbow).~~~8.real drive - more sunsets fade, you're still away, while here i've stayed (you'll be back someday). when you're on the road there's no place like home: here you won't get any lonelier or have to worry about passing out as you're driving to and fro, surviving show to show. i awake in a different state (how quickly persuaded, how quickly the days did pass away.)~~~9.thoughtless-~~~10.getting through the meadow - on the forest path there's a light through the grass up ahead, and if we turn back, everything turns black, so we keep moving on. as we enter the prairie though our bodies feel weary we're carrying on, further down ahead moon shines 'long the creek bed, it keeps pulling us on. afloat with the raft our boat drifts with the drafts (clear stars in the sky reflect against the lake into our eyes guiding us home).~~~11.i've been a bee (before) - i was a fish one day i feel it when i sway, i've been a bee before i'll be a tree once more. reflection in the mirror/perception of year. see as the time clears and the body disappears (is long dead and gone) still the light has been passed on, as bees buzzing through the leaves, on into someone else's song.~~~ bdphones hopeful (songs)
